Those unusual configs
They play with inverted mouse :
What is inverted mouse? It’s an available option which allows to invert mouse’s Y-axis. This means that when it’s activated, when the player pulls his mouse, his crosshair goes up, and the other way around. It’s a very useful option for flight simulators in which this axis is reversed very often.
Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez
The Titan player is one of the very rare specimens to use this option on a pro level. The swissman always played that way, since he took that habit from his very first CS moments, playing the beta of the game. Back then, his cousin introduced him to the game and convinced him that it was easier to play that way : pretend your crosshair is an aircraft nose, and invert the mouse axis. Maniac never felt the urge to change that habit and fifteen years later, he became one of the best players in the world.
A few well-known players also play with inverted vertical mouse axis, such as ex-3DMAX finnish player Mikko “xartE” Valimaa and the aussie player from Vox Eminor Luke “Havoc” Paton. From now on, no wonder you’ll watch their actions in a different way !
Not using their mouse to scope :
When you launch CS:GO for the very first time, secondary fire is bound to right click or “MOUSE2” by default. Most players use their right click to scope, to remove or to put their silencer, to toggle burst mode or to throw a short distance grenade. However, some players bind the secondary attack on the keyboard.
Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans
The Titan’s leader is well-known for moving with arrow keys. What is less known is the way he aims with his sniper: the “KP_INS” key wich is “0” on the numeric pad. Indeed he jumps with his right click. Kévin "Uzzziii" Vernel uses the same technique.
Other well-known players have bound their secondary shot on an unlikely key. Amongst the Frenchmen, LDLC White's Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon uses his “d” key and crouches with his right click whereas the former MAXISAUCISSE and iGamerz, David "davidp" Prins scopes with spacebar. The Danish player Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and the Polish player Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas both scope respectively with the "q” and the “x” key.
Others players as GeT_RiGhT and Xizt from NiP or pasha from Virtus.Pro use others key of their mouse for the “+attack2” as the side keys or the wheel.
They are switching from right handed to left handed model in the middle of the round :
Some of the Counter Strike players are left handed and play with a right hand model and vice versa, but do you know any player switching hands in the middle of the round ? Nope ? Nothing to be ashamed of, they’re pretty rare.
Markus "pronax" Wallsten
If you stand behind the captain of the best team in the world, Fnatic, and that suddenly you see his gun switching to the right of the screen, no it’s not because you’re still under the effect of some mushrooms you had last night. Indeed, if pronax is generally playing with his gun on the left, he often switches it in order to throw smokes or flashes that use the gun as a landmark like on this picture. The Swedish team’s brain binded cl_righthand 0 and 1 on MOUSE4 and MOUSE5, the two side buttons on the mouse.
It is quite hard to find anyone else using this method in the top european players. In France, the former player of redzone Thomas “Olliz” Courtheoux switches hands even more often, depending on the line he’s peeking. A pretty impressive way to play that allows the player to have a better visibility when he aims. At least that’s how he feels about it.
Of course, we might have forgotten some odd facts about famous players using unusual configurations.
Which habit impressed you the most ?
